COMMENT OBTENIR UN CHIEN GUIDE
Mira Europe remet gratuitement des chiens-guides à des jeunes handicapés visuels âgés entre 10 et 20 ans qui en font la demande.
Les conditions pour pouvoir faire la demande:
- Le jeune handicapé visuel doit être âge entre 12 et 18 ans
- Il doit avoir un bon niveau de maturité dans la mesure où c’est lui le maitre du chien: il doit s’en occuper, lui donner à manger, le sortir pour les besoins, exercer son autorité quand il y en a besoin, etc...
La marche à suivre pour déposer un dossier de demande:
Le jeune non-voyant qui souhaite bénéficier d'un chien-guide, doit envoyer à l’association Mira Europe un dossier de demande comportant:
-Une lettre motivée des parents dans laquelle ils font une demande de chien-guide pour leur enfant ; une lettre de motivation du jeune demandeur dans laquelle il explique les raisons pour lesquelles il souhaite avoir un chien-guide.
-Un dossier de demande rempli et comportant les documents médicaux nécessaires (renseignements médicaux dûment remplis par le médecin traitant, certificat d'ophtalmologue et rapport de locomotion et de mobilité).

HOW TO OBTAIN A GUIDE-DOG

Mira Europe gives guide-dogs - entirely free of charge - to visually handicapped young people between the ages of 12 and 20 years subject to successful application.
The procedure to follow in order to submit an application:
The conditions necessary for an application:
The young handicapped person must be between the ages of 12 and 18.
The applicant must master both the white cane technique and orientation in space.
The applicant must have a good level of maturity in as much as it is he/she, the master of the dog, who must occupy himself/herself with this new companion, attend to its food requirements and see to all its other needs, and exercise authority when needed
The procedure to follow in order to submit an application:
The young visually handicapped person who wishes to acquire the benefit of a guide-dog needs to submit an application to Mira Europe which application must include:
- A letter written by the parents of the young applicant setting out the demand; a letter written by the young applicant himself (herself) fully the reasons why he (she) is applying for a dog.
- A fully completed application form (which can be down-loaded from the Mira Europe website) together with all the medical documents necessary (full answered form from your general practitioner doctor, certificate from your eye specialist and specialist confirmations concerning mobility and locomotion).
